Story board top ten rejects.

My selection of reject story boards, for various different reasons, ranging from too irrelevant, to too minimal, there are a couple i would like to try but first i'll put my first line story boards into after effects and see if any need dropping.

Circles.

Playing around with ways to introduce the images of lizards, applying the write on effect to this section gives a much greater impact, still need to find a soundtrack to use.

More progress.

Finally, my work is done, now i have all the information and the style i want to use, i can actually begin to progress a significant amount, although i has taken quite a while i feel really good about my idea now, heres a short clip of the opening sequence to my Ident, i still need to make a few changes, such as lowering the scale of the timeline and playing around with the pace a little more, but that shouldn't take too long now since i have the knowledge to reproduce this technique.

Experimenting with after effects and finally figured out how to create the technique i want to, it took a fair amount of time and a lot of tedious work but it's beginning to look better, i just need to find a way for the other branches of the vector to appear.

Ident story boards.

Begining to design and experiment with ways i can take the 10 second Ident section of 'top ten'.

Simplicity is key with my project i want simple but effective movement and imagery to give a good clear crisp idea of what the program is about, these are some of my designs so far.

These are A1 poster submitted for our image module, not massively happy with the final pieces, this will definitely be a project i revisit before the deadline.

I wanted to take a simple approach using a little imagery as possible, i will eventually add more colour and re-design all three posters.

Write - on / Type writer.

Experimenting with two new effects for my Idents, struggling with the Write - on but going to have leave it how it is for today, a pretty terrible attempt but my idea is turning out a little more complex than i once thought.

The typewriter seemed nice and easy to create, just a simple 4 step process but a huge difference it will make to my ident.

On your bike.

An interesting series of bike illustrations, nice and light hearted with a nice attention to detail something i'd like to incorporate into my bike project.

AE experiments.

Playing around with a few new techniques learned in after effects this afternoon, really relevant and helpful to my silent movie work, looking forward to apply these skills, first is 'parent / child relations' between two layers, second is a pendulum technique using 'easy ease' technique, which changes acceleration and deceleration.

Making Progress.

Finally after having this slowed me down for a week now i will be able to move on and develop my videos further which should hopefully give me some more ideas and interesting direction.

My problem was finding an illustrative style that was clean crisp but still indicated good detail of the lizard, these are the sketches i have designed so far.

Feedback.

Missing out on a little bit of work was vital this week, i missed out on crited work, although i had a couple of videos completed i still had no story board therefore people couldn't really understand what would happen.

Here is my feedback sheet nevertheless, by the end of the week i will have completed all of my story boards a few times over to make sure i catch up.

Next task is finding some music to fit.

Today we started our optional module 'Image' i was eagerly waiting to begin due to not really exploring many open briefs since begining the course, obviously the briefs in first year were fairly open but due to being quite new to graphic design i didnt want to do anything too experimental, looking back i wish i had. we were asked to red three articles and design / develop ideas for the images to show roughly what each article expressed here is my development and decided ideas.

Second week of image and we started by having a small crit between ourselves in groups of 4, the crits went well, everybody could understand what each image was for and almost all were relevant.

For the second task we then had to select a quote from each article and using text as image express what the quote meant, again i am looking forward to tackling this i haven't yet fully explored type as image but found a lot of work i'm interested in.

The quotes i have chosen to work with are:

- Scope sensitivity / i feel this has a lot to work with in terms of defining words and finding interesting meanings.

- As we grow older / i want to keep a couple of simple projects open in this as to not overload myself with too much complicated work.

- Less than 0 / this has a really good minimal side i can apply to my work and i already have various different ideas.

The rationale.

SNAP / shut.

Another video for snap with each individual letter floating away from the center and 'snapping' back into place, i am happy with this video for now, but i will experiment with a few variations another time.

The first video having more of an impact i feel due pause and sudden snap, where as the other is a little less affective.

SNAP italics.

A 5 second silent movie project taking the word snap and expressing the word using italics, with the letter form 'snapping' into place.

Circles. Information

Another experiment using text as well as the circles, i still want to experiment with more ideas for the movement of the circle and revealing the text, i lost one of the files for the text whilst saving everything yesterday, fortunately i found it this morning.

Bounce. Drop. 1

Here are a couple of attempts at bounce, i like the video and it's simplicity, i should probably change the circle to a 'O' just so im not using imagery but i also want to try and play around with the rate of drop, to make sure there's a significant change in pace due to perspective.

A very short experiment with after effects trying to figure out what kind of style i would like to use for my videos this short part will be used to identify individual parts of the animals the videos will be about, it worked rather well, i just need to perfect it.

Boards. 2

Today in our crit we presented our ideas and boards to our groups and discussed any changes that need to be made and ensured we had considered all areas that needed to be, unfortunately my idea had changed around 11 o clock last night, making it difficult for me to redesign my boards in time, i explained fully my idea change and answered any questions that were asked.

Concept boards, even just putting these boards together made me realise there were some changes to be made in my project, i feel my ideas and concept have benefited much more since doing this task.
