Storyboards. 3

After designing the initial time-lined storyboards we were asked to create another one, using a storyboard of our choice but instead of using one line to show 5 seconds we could use 5 lines with each line representing a second and also could have as many frames as we felt appropriate in order to show what was happening in our animation.

With these new adjustments i found it a lot easier to show what was happening but more importantly when it was happening at the moment i have only designed two timelines but i intend to create 5 - 10 more.

Storyboards. 2

After creating storyboards for our animations and putting together the timelines using screen grabs from animations found online, we were asked to create time-lined storyboards using the ones we had already designed in order to give ourselves a better idea as to when everything would happen in the animations.

We were also restricted to using 5 frames in our timeline to see if we could see what was happening with limited visuals.

I feel that after doing this i got a better sense of where to place certain frames and also a better sense of pace, these time lines helped show when everything happened specifically the only problem i came across was the 5 frames, i felt i needed more to give a good visual of what was going on and to show more pace.

Key frames.

In todays workshop we were asked to bring in 50 screen grabs from a chosen kinetic type animation, 25 screen grabs from significant points in the animation and 25 from regular intervals i.e. every 12 seconds.

We were then asked to use timelines and place the images along them to show how the animation changes over time.

What did i learn?

- It is important to bare in mind key frames when making timeline.

- Its a good idea to screen grab my own work, in case i cant use in design and to get a different perspective on the animation.

Problems i encountered?

- It is difficult to show what is happening using only significant points in the motion.

- When designing my own sequences i found it difficult to show when an object moved in fast then slowed down pace.

How do my sequences work?

- I will be looking at ways to show more key points in my sequences from now one

- There are also a few points in mine that need to rapid movement slowing down to static type.

Snap 125.

We were asked to come up with 5 different ideas in terms of kinetic type based on our given word, mine being snap, i decided to try a different route apposed to literally snapping the word, i looked at 'snapping' the word into different positions, serifs, italics to develop a more varied range of work, these are the design i finished.
