Experimenting with the write on effect before mike helped me, explaining how the brush tool is much better for following the line simply because you paste the layer from after effects onto the brush effect on your layer which then draws the path exactly onto your video for it then to be revealed.
The write on effect didn't help much due to having to bend the paths individually.
Here using the brush tool shows how much easier the path is applied onto the layer, all that needs to be changed then is the start to end / RGB - Alpha and the colour from red to black.
