Crit. 1

To ensure everything we are working on makes sense and to ensure we have covered all necessary areas we had our first crit, in our pairs we proposed our re-written brief and explained to the rest of the groups what our plan was so far, from this we then received feedback for anything we had missed and any areas our peers thought they could help will, we also received additional feedback for our design direction.

Action.

After completing our list of 5's for the Fedrigoni Brief we decided to write an action plan to ensure everything we needed to cover over the next week would be completed, so far i am looking forward to tackling this brief the option of exploring paper and print process really appeals to me and i think i could produce some promising work for this.

We split the tasks equally so far, with most tasks relating to some form of research we both have a similar amount to do, they are things such as, research Fedrigoni past campaigns, competitor campaigns, any campaigns using interesting coloured paper, print processes, print finishes.

The Brief.

Now that we have selected our brief to work with, we need to make sure
we know exactly what is being asked of us in terms of Audience / Context, Media / Distribution, Content / Subject, Product / Deliverables.

We were asked to fill out 5 for each of these Sections, for this we made lists showing all areas that needed to be considered.

Here are images of my final printed book, i wanted to keep the design minimal in order to showcase the gradient throughout, the screen prints were quite tricky to begin with as i havn't screen printed gradients before, over all i liked the aesthetic but feel more time spent on it i could have developed a better concept.

Fedrigoni.

In our collaborative groups we were now asked to select one brief from our collection of YCN competition briefs, we assessed each one, looking at how each one was restricting or open, we ran into a few problems regarding how open they were, it seemed with many briefs the client didn't know what they really wanted and relied on us to create a whole advertising campaign for them, this came across as a slight problem for us, so with our selected brief we had to pick out the exact requirements the client asks for and to then re-write the brief using this information.

This brief seemed most suited to us, being a paper manufacturing company they wanted to keep the project print based, we both enjoy print over digital also the restrictions were minimal, but they supplied a relevant audience and context for us to work with, leaving us to be creative and produce a personal response to this brief.

Flanaman.

After deciding on our partners for the collaboration, mine being James Flanagan we began to fill out a form supplied by Fred stating why we would work well in a collaboration, and also stating what our strengths and weaknesses were individually showing why we were suited, we also stated the kind of tasks we would complete individually.

Collaboration.

In our session with Fred today we had a task to help us select our partners for collaboration, each person in the class had to create a 'I am' poster along with a 'Looking for' poster in order to show our strengths and let the rest of the class know what strengths would help them in a collaboration, after doing this each person put their 'I am' poster at the same time, whilst the rest of the class had to write why they would be suited with whoever they felt fit.

The same then applied to the other poster, so when i stuck my 'Looking for' poster up, my peers if they saw fit, would write underneath why they would work well in a collaboration with me.

After these tasks we proceeded to sit back in our seats asses the feedback we had and approach individuals in the class to see if they would like to collaborate in this project.
